I believe I can fly
When R. Kelly penned this song, He spoke about one's power to press themselves beyond their circumstances and come rising above the rest. We sing it in secular graduations everywhere still today. It propels young and old to tap into their inner strength and ability to change their course if they just believe. The song became popular and still remains one of the most sung inspirational songs of all time. But did you know that God's word already had already promise you this great ability to soar above your storms and come out a victor and not a victim?
Isaiah 40:31 tells us that God promises to mount us up as eagles, if we trust and put our hope in Him. So the question is today: Do you believe you can fly? Do you believe when God says that He can move you into new atmospheres and new places. We've been fighting wars that has left us battered, broken, confused and defeated, but I still hear those words- "mount up with wings like an eagle". What was God speaking into our spirits? He has promised us something awesome here and the belief is not in our own power but in the power of God. I don't crash self-determination and self-will because a made up mind has to be present in all forms of success. Commitment and perseverance has to be there too. But worldly success and victories is different than spiritual victories.
The precondition of being able to soar like an eagle is "waiting". That's a hard word for a lot of us. Isaiah said they that wait upon the Lord shall renew strength and then mount up. In all of our success and desire to be succesful in this Christian walk, there comes with one main ingredient- waiting on God. Now waiting doesn't mean just sitting around on the ledge of life for the miracle cloud to show up. Waiting involves attending to desires and needs of God. Making sure that we do everything to please Him, even in our periods where we believe that time is standing still for us. If we can show God the gratitude and give Him praise even when the tides are heavy and the dreams seem unfulfilled, God said that He will send renewed strength. You find yourself making it one more day when "yesterday" told you that you couldn't make it into tomorrow. Strength that carries you in times of human weaknesses and cause you to walk on. After a while, you find yourself running and before you know you are taking flight.
Earthly situations and storms hasn't cease but still God is causing you to rise. Demonic assignments has been sent out against you and there you are soaring. The waves are still beating heavy and the fire is burning hot but you are still soaring. The question is, do you believe you can fly? Do you believe the word of God that says that you can have an aerial view of your surroundings? Further perspective on your situation? You have the power to leave behind the calamity and just fly. As they see you soaring, they can't touch you. Everyting becomes minimal to you as you look down to see those thorns that were set to buffet you and now they can't do anything to you. You conquered the unconquerable and did the impossible. How? Because you believed and trusted God and gave Him what He wanted. Because of your faith He blew a fresh wind your way that started to give you that boost . It was your propeller that once it got turning and activated, you were ready for take off. More faith caused more wind to pick up and before you know it you are soaring and gliding as sweetly and majestically as the eagle. God said you can fly, not man. Do you believe it today?
